Stocks closed the shortened week on a pessimistic note as investors absorbed job market statistics that indicate an imminent interest rate hike by the Federal Reserve. Although the United States reported fewer job additions than expected last month, wage growth exceeded projections, providing confidence that Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell and his associates can safely implement rate increases without risking a recession.

Binance is currently experiencing a major leadership challenge due to the departure of several crucial leaders. The resignations come as a result of concerns regarding CZ's handling of ongoing regulatory inquiries. Notably, key individuals such as the General Counsel, Chief Strategy Officer, and SVP for Compliance have chosen to step down. This situation leaves Binance, which is already grappling with regulatory obstacles worldwide, more exposed to heightened scrutiny since the resignations involve departments that directly engage with regulators. Evidently, the resignations are rooted in dissatisfaction with Zhao's approach to addressing an investigation conducted by the US Justice Department concerning alleged regulatory circumvention and potential money laundering.

Samsung Electronics has projected a substantial decline in profits for the second quarter of 2023, with an estimated drop of 96%. This decrease is attributed to persistently weak demand for memory chips. The company expects its operating profit from April to June to reach 600 billion Korean won ($459 million), a significant decrease compared to 14.1 trillion Korean won during the same period last year.

If this projection holds true, it will mark Samsung's lowest quarterly profit since the first quarter of 2009, when it recorded 590 billion won. Analysts had anticipated a second-quarter profit of 555 billion Korean won, aligning with the company's forecast. These figures were reported by Reuters, citing Refinitiv SmartEstimate.

In addition to the profit decline, Samsung forecasts a 17.4% drop in revenue for the second quarter, amounting to 63.75 trillion Korean won, down from 77.2 trillion Korean won from a year ago.

Samsung is scheduled to release its comprehensive earnings report on July 27, providing further insights into its financial performance during this period.
